A Tribute to Alfred Hitchcock
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Carol Burnett introduces the show's salute to Alfred Hitchcock. On Mount Rushmore in a North by Northwest send-up, Rich Little's hero holds his dangling blonde companion while she explains that her affair with the enemy spy chief was strictly undercover work, until she slips from his grasp and he shrugs off the loss. A Psycho spoof flips the shower scene: Vicki Lawrence's washroom cleaner is the one who screams at the sight of Eydie Gormé's bather. Little then appears as Hitchcock himself to present a preview of his latest picture. Harvey Korman's Charles brings his new bride Helena (Burnett) home to a gloomy mansion run by a doddering butler (Little) and a jittery housekeeper (Lawrence), and every servant collapses at how much she resembles his late wife Edna. Helena finally turns the hidden portrait around and finds her own face, and Charles's scheme to drive her mad for the insurance money seems to work when she announces that she is Edna. But the tangle of earlier wives' names soon unravels Charles, attendants haul him away, and Helena reveals she was faking all along by tearing up the policy.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Darling, why do you think they call us undercover agents? That's where we do our best work.
It has many of the elements of my previous pictures. But then again, many of my previous pictures had many of the elements of my previous picture.
Yes, I drove another one up the wall.
The rabbit hole continues
One more couldn’t hurt.
