The premise

Here’s the bit.

With Roger away on business, Carol and her kid sister Chris finish a late-night horror film and promptly frighten themselves over every creak, a dimming lamp and a dead phone line. Meanwhile Roger returns early with Mr. Stanley, who is too drunk to drive home, and tries to keep him quiet. Convinced the men are intruders, the sisters creep through the dark house with a frying pan, while the bewildered Mr. Stanley keeps blaming his mounting bumps on the bottle until a final mix-up flattens everyone in the hallway.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

What's that bumpity bump sound? That's my heart.

You don't get hangovers in the middle of a drunk.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

In the original broadcast, Harvey Korman introduced this installment on camera in character as Roger, explaining that he usually calms the sisters down after the late horror movie. The official clip's description gives season 1, episode 28, but the official full-episode upload, TVDB and IMDb place it in episode 27 (April 15, 1968).

The rabbit hole continues

One more couldn’t hurt.
