The premise
Here’s the bit.
Two shoppers congratulate themselves on how easygoing clothes shops have become, until a severe salesclerk dismantles a vague request for a versatile suit. The friendly staff have disappeared, and their old-fashioned replacements demand obedience as well as impeccable dress. The clerk attacks the male customer’s clothes, manners and self-esteem, presenting his cruelty as an essential lesson in having standards.
