The Original Gold Digger

Ordered by the king to turn a roomful of straw into gold, Sarah welcomes help from Rumpelstiltskin. He immediately spoils his own escape clause by introducing himself, then discovers that she is perfectly willing to surrender her firstborn child. His attempts to undo the bargain only make her more determined to hold him to it. Unable to work the spinning wheel or produce any gold, he proposes borrowing the money instead, leaving his modest woodland home to bear the cost.
