The premise

Here’s the bit.

On a winter night, Tom's neighbor Phil drops by and notices Frank Wilkins from two doors down bound to a chair in Tom's yard, and he guesses the whole scheme: Tom needs ransom money to cover payments on a new BMW. Before Phil can call the police, Tom offers him a cut, but Phil panics and clubs Frank with a flashlight. From then on, every relative who steps outside during the family's holiday visit startles Phil into another blow, and the unconscious bodies pile up on the lawn while Tom pleads for him to stop. Even Tom's wife is put to sleep, Tom takes a hit himself, and as Phil decides to flee the country, a jolly voice from the rooftop announces that Santa has arrived.
