The premise

Here’s the bit.

A woman named Jen cowers in a dark house as a blood-spattered man stalks her through every room. Eight months later, the director checks on the final cut, only to learn that his editor has decided the footage plays better as a romantic comedy and has hired actors to dub in new lines. Played back with its new dialogue and a cheerful pop song, the same screams, chases and hiding spots become flirting, a commitment crisis, a surprise bouquet and a marriage proposal from the killer. The director is so moved that the reworked film ends up in Times Square under the title Love You to Death.

Highly quotable.

No offense, but it just wasn't playing like a romantic comedy.

I'm a strong, independent woman who doesn't need a boyfriend.

You had me at pretty girl.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

The closing Times Square billboard titles the re-cut movie Love You to Death and bills its stars under the performers’ real names, Jason Gray and Mallory Everton.

The rabbit hole continues

One more couldn’t hurt.
