The cold open travels back to 1986 and Amy Poehler's childhood home in Burlington, Massachusetts. Teenage Amy, in a purple sweatshirt with towering teased hair, pours her teenage misery into her diary. While she gives her hair an emergency blast of hairspray, the cloud brings the life-size Jon Bon Jovi poster beside her mirror to life, and the rocker, in bandana and leather coat, steps into her room to comfort her. He promises that things will get better: she'll grow up to join the cast of Saturday Night Live, and he'll host the show and see her again on October 13, 2007. Amy can hardly believe that either of them, or the show itself, will still be around. After some teasing about her looks and a farewell, Bon Jovi slips back onto the wall, and the thrilled Amy delivers the opening line herself.
