The premise

Here’s the bit.

In his dungeon set, Count Floyd excitedly announces this Saturday's Monster Chiller Horror Theatre feature, a 3D political thriller starring House Speaker Tip O'Neill, and tells viewers to grab their 3D glasses for the previews. The clips show O'Neill at his desk seeking support and thrusting a sealed bill, and later a ballpoint pen, toward the lens. Floyd insists each moment is horrifying, has the crew run the footage further in search of a scarier bit, and finally admits the film isn't scary, promising a better one next week while maintaining that O'Neill coming at you in 3D is frightening enough.

Highly quotable.

Gentlemen, I need your support on my bill.

That bill could become a law.

Democrat or Republican, I'd run from that guy.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Tip O'Neill was Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives when this promo aired in January 1983. It appeared in the SCTV Network episode built around the show's "A Star Is Born" parody with guest Crystal Gayle.
