Tree Lighting Gig

Treece Henderson brings his trio to a lodge’s Christmas tree lighting, but their festive performance keeps giving way to awkward conversations. Keyboardist Charlie Darken’s recent marriage and trumpeter Sheila Foods’s romantic regrets draw the bandleader’s unsolicited advice. When Sheila learns that her ex has flooded their hotel room, Treece becomes consumed by the fate of his suede boots. The musicians eventually reaffirm their friendship and finish the song, despite having lost their audience.
