Musical

You are a geriatric telegram boy. I am rich and good at puppets. You do the math.

Liesl (Cecily Strong), the eldest von Trapp daughter, and her suitor Rolf (John Mulaney) perform a parody of the classic 16 Going on 17 number. As they sing, Rolf gradually reveals he is not 17 but far, far older. Liesl debates the merits of their ongoing courtship. Eventually, Liesl's father Gaylord (Beck Bennett) and the former nun Maria (Kate McKinnon) intervene. The sketch also touches on the impending German occupation.

Described by Vulture as a recreation of a scene from Fiddler on the Roof for WASPs. Aired on the leap day, February 29, 2020. Part of SNL Season 45 Episode 14 hosted by John Mulaney with musical guest David Byrne. The sketch has ~4.9M YouTube views.
