Avant-Garde French Film Director
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
On a television film programme, an interviewer welcomes the acclaimed French avant-garde director Pierre de Tierre and praises the bold choices in his latest picture. One by one, the filmmaker cheerfully punctures each interpretation: the sudden switch to black and white happened because the money for colour stock ran out, the jittery documentary look came from a broken tripod, the heroine's lisp belonged to an actress who was the producer's girlfriend, and a celebrated line was simply mistranslated. Even the poignant final shot of a stray dog turns out to be an unwelcome intrusion by an animal that ruined the camera. Undeterred, the interviewer introduces a clip from the director's next film.

I don't give her a lisp. She have a lisp.
You searched all over France for an actress with a lisp. There's dedication.

Notes from the archive.
According to the Benny Hill fan wiki, the sketch reworks a December 26, 1968 BBC interview in which Henry McGee questioned another Hill film director, Claude Le Twit. It was later included in the 1974 compilation film The Best of Benny Hill.
