Cast List
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Drama students crowd the hallway outside the theater department, desperate to learn their parts in Bye Bye Birdie. When Mr. Koenig finally emerges, he has no list, only new rules: colorblind casting unless something strikes him as odd, a warning that one senior girl will be crushed, and a series of personal demands. He quizzes a devout student about stage kissing, mocks a dating couple's inexperience and assigns them an outrageous homework task, forces a horrified student into a mayoral pose and rewards another for not caring. His pet student Casper sings on command, and the list still needs the choreographer's initials and a visit from the tech director before it goes up. When the students finally read it, they learn every part has been double-cast, leaving each of them with a single night on stage.

Oh, my God, I can't wait any longer. I have to know if I'm in the musical. I know. This is, like, the latest Mr. Koenig's ever posted the cast list. Like, last year, Godspell was up by, like, ten. You were so good in Godspell. What if I just, like, ran right through this door? That's hilarious.
- 00:20
Casper ?
I hope I get to play Conrad Birdie.
- 00:22
You know you will. You're the most talented male in the department.
- 00:25
You really think so? Um, yes. I could never do what you're doing right now.
- 00:31
Student ?
Okay, I just hope I get to play a person in this show. Because I already played a dog in Annie and a dog in the foot in Beauty and the Beast.
- 00:40
Yeah, but you're so good at playing parts with no lines. Yeah.
