A guard locks Pee-wee Herman in a cell with Tommy Flanagan, whose supposedly rehabilitated lying habit immediately returns. Their awkward introduction becomes a competition: each claims to have committed grander robberies, held more powerful jobs, and survived stranger adventures than the other. Pee-wee eagerly supplies embellishments when Tommy runs out of ideas, and the two build an increasingly impossible shared history. The guard interrupts with a much smaller explanation for their imprisonment: both were arrested for jaywalking, and their wives have paid their bail. Tommy still cannot resist one last boast on the way out.
