Buffy the Umpire Slayer
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
A ballgame turns ugly when a hulking umpire bares his fangs and bites the batter he just ejected. In a Buffy the Vampire Slayer send-up, complete with a mock opening-credits sequence, Buffy and her friends gather in the school library, where Giles warns of danger at the seventh-inning stretch and delivers a slide-show history of umpire evil that reaches all the way back to Atlantis. The gang chases a masked umpire through the darkened halls until Buffy dispatches him with a bat sharpened into a stake, and a breezy promo pitches the series for The WB.
The funny people

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Is it just me, or is anyone else starting to think that this high school is built on the site of an ancient umpire burial ground?
Umpires, by definition, are not people. They are creatures of pure evil.
They only fear three things. Wild pitches, Buffy, and Roberto Alomar.
Behind the scenes
The people who made it.

Notes from the archive.
The Roberto Alomar punchline refers to the second baseman's September 1996 incident in which he spat at umpire John Hirschbeck, about a year before this episode aired.
