Pony Tales
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Narration and solemn title cards introduce three ponytailed men. Renick, a 45-year-old work-from-home graphic artist, designs clip-art flyers among candles, volunteers at a food co-op where he scolds customers about the scoops, and explains that he is weathering a surge of female hormones. Mark, a 58-year-old civil rights attorney, recalls his 1960s Berkeley youth, insists his ponytail shows he is a fun-loving joker, and ends up taking a phone call in which his wife asks for a divorce. Barry, a 35-year-old martial artist and lizard owner who refuses to say how old his ponytail is, shows off his sword collection and Bruce Lee devotion before his landlady arrives to demand three months of overdue rent.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
I'm going through an estrogen storm right now.
I'll have a grande mocha latte. Hold the onion. Hold the mayo.
I'm also a reptile enthusiast, but I am not cold-blooded.

A little extra
Notes from the archive.
Pony Tales was the main sketch of the first-season episode "Can I Finish?". The A.V. Club's review called Richard Kind's casting a welcome surprise, though it found the faux documentary a little too sleepy overall.
