Baby Cries
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
At a get-together to meet Meredith's new baby, a guest takes the infant's tears as a personal verdict on his wild past, then cannot stop telling anyone nearby that he has reformed. His attempts to prove he has changed keep circling back to fond memories of his old party crew and their favourite indulgence, sloppy steaks: rare steaks drenched in glasses of water at a restaurant that has banned the practice. When Meredith's father admits to a disreputable past of his own and vouches for him, the baby finally smiles, and the sketch ends in a neon-lit flashback to one of the crew's nights out, sloppy steaks and all.

Highly quotable.
Of course he cries when I hold him.
It's a steak with water dumped on it. It's really, really good.
You think this is slicked back? This is pushed back.

A little extra
Notes from the archive.
The closing flashback is scored by an Auto-Tuned song sung by Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig, which continues over the episode's end credits. Vampire Weekend gave the song, often called the sloppy steak song, its live debut at the Hollywood Bowl in June 2024, where Tim Robinson made a surprise appearance.
