The premise

Here’s the bit.

In the Quad-Mart break room, rule-loving checkout clerk Laughton hounds his relaxed, sunglasses-wearing co-worker Troy about missing lane dividers, team slogans and supposed signs of drug use, then tries to fire him for snacking on chips he insists are stolen. When store manager Mr. Brown arrives, the evidence turns against Laughton: the messy break room is his responsibility and he has been prying into Troy's locker, so the treasured vest changes hands.

Highly quotable.

Your attitude will determine your altitude.

Is that why you wear shades? Because you're loaded on the hashish?

Leaders are like eagles. You're not an eagle. You're a parrot.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

800 Pound Gorilla later picked this sketch for its round-up of Stephen Colbert's best Exit 57 moments, describing it as a clash between two workplace types: the slacker and the rule-obsessed stickler.
