Visitors for the Use of Lonely Patients
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
A doctor prescribes an automatic visitor for a patient who has become depressed without company. Once the nurse sets it going, the smartly dressed machine delivers a relentless stream of familiar bedside remarks, offers grapes and asks about the nurses. It treats every interruption as encouragement and gradually gets stuck repeating fragments of its routine, leaving the patient to cope with the result.

I wasn’t telling you anything.
I’m enjoying our little chat very, very much indeed.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
The upload’s “Ep. 4” label follows a later compilation, rather than the sketch’s original series 1, episode 3 placement.
