The premise
Here’s the bit.
Seated at a small table away from Jesus and his disciples, three friends turn their disappointing invitation into a lively exchange of gossip and complaints. Mary Magdalene’s arrival only sharpens the divide between her privileged access and their view from the sidelines. Modern social grievances collide with Biblical references until the evening is immortalized in a tableau that gives the women little comfort.
