The setup
The premise
Gabourey Sidibe sits at a hotel-conference-room press event for her film Precious, with her agent opening the floor to questions. A reporter asks whether she is dating anyone, and her answer is interrupted by Hamilton, her blond-bobbed, tinted-glasses ex-boyfriend, who has come to propose. As she resists, Hamilton scrambles to show he has evolved on race relations, offering tone-deaf proofs such as having sat through her movie and griping about the audience around him. Each clumsy boast makes her wince, yet she eventually gives in, taking him back as he serenades her.

Say it with us
Oh, it was RFK? I thought it was from Birth of a Nation.
I looked for a Larry Bird theater, but it didn't exist.
Don't you call them those people.

Agent
okay Okay, let's open it up to questions.
Fan
Yes, hi. A lot of the movie is centered around Precious' desire for a boyfriend. Are you currently dating anybody?
Herself
No, I'm not. I was in a relationship for a long time, but it didn't work out. So right now I'm just enjoying being single.
Agent
Yes. Anyone else?
Hamilton Whiteman
I have a question, my love.
Herself
Hamilton, what are you doing here?
Hamilton Whiteman
I've come to ask for your black hand in marriage.
Herself
Hamilton, this is not the time or the place for this.
Hamilton Whiteman
If not us, who? If not now, when?
Herself
Hamilton, I don't think that you of all people should be quoting RFK.
Hamilton Whiteman
Oh, it was RFK. I thought it was from Birth of a Nation. Whatever. Just take me back, my love.
Herself
Hamilton, you are straight-up crazy if you think I would ever get back with you.
Hamilton Whiteman

Herself
