Behind the show.
The State brings an eleven-member comedy troupe's surreal, energetic sketches to MTV, taking aim at youth culture, advertising, television, and its own network. Its ensemble includes Michael Ian Black, Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kenney, Ken Marino, Michael Showalter, and David Wain. Recurring characters and unexpected links between sketches give the show a playful, self-aware rhythm.
