The premise

Here’s the bit.

The episode opens with Eric knocking on a hallway door where an older woman answers. The episode features several cat-themed sketches: Tim learns a magic trick that turns him into a cat but cannot turn back into a human; Channel 5 presents their new series Kitty Cat Man, about a man who can transform into a cat; Tairy Greene (Zach Galifianakis) teaches new employees the best gravy robbing techniques at the Gravy Robbers Restaurant; Channel 5 Kid Break presents "I Sit Down When I Pee"; and Tim creates bad free portraits on the street. Michael Cera appears as Jamie Stevens and Paul Reubens voices The Moon.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

"Cats" is the third episode of Season 1, originally airing on February 25, 2007 on Adult Swim (runtime ~11 minutes). The episode has a strong feline theme running through its sketches. Paul Reubens (best known as Pee-wee Herman) voices The Moon, a notable celebrity cameo. Zach Galifianakis's recurring character Tairy Greene — a deranged gravy-robbing instructor — makes his first appearance in this episode and recurs throughout the series. Michael Cera appears as Jamie Stevens. The episode was directed by Tim Heidecker, Jonathan Krisel, and Eric Wareheim, and was produced as part of Adult Swim's first foray into the surreal public-access parody style that would define the show.
