The premise
Here’s the bit.
Dressed for a special occasion, Trevor and Sam announce that they asked John Cleese to write a sketch for their show. Their grand introduction gives way to a man and woman dining together, whose oddly polite conversation gradually takes the shape of a rejection letter. The performance turns a failed request for material into the material itself.
