The premise

Here’s the bit.

During an eye exam, a man fumbles through the letter chart until his doctor tells him he is almost completely blind and simply never realized the world is not supposed to look fuzzy. Fitted with his first pair of glasses, he is overcome with joy at how crisp everything is, marveling at the ceiling and floor of the drab exam room as if they were breathtaking sights. Then his wife comes in from the waiting room, and his delight collapses the moment he gets a clear look at her. He launches into a melodramatic lament about his ruined happiness while she and the doctor stand right there hearing every word, until the doctor offers him a different kind of visual consolation.

Doctor, your floor looks like a firework show!

Who'd have thought my life's highest point and its lowest would come a mere minute apart?
