The premise
Here’s the bit.
A door-to-door salesman tries to impress Arthur and his family with facts from an encyclopaedia. Their effortless answers, corrections and increasingly obscure knowledge turn his demonstration into a losing quiz. When Arthur takes pity on him and agrees to buy a set, the household struggles with the simplest part of the transaction: working out the total price.
