The premise

Here’s the bit.

A professor dressed as a waiter introduces a television language lesson built around a restaurant visit. Picture demonstrations establish his unconventional system, in which letter and number names stand in for English phrases. He then waits on a customer whose attempt to order ham, eggs and tea turns into a brisk phonetic puzzle. A waitress arrives with information that makes the carefully negotiated order fall apart.
