The premise

Here’s the bit.

McGuillicutty tries to run through familiar double-act routines with Green, whose matter-of-fact responses keep stopping the jokes. A money-changing trick fails when Green checks the arithmetic, and an ambiguous description of an acquaintance gets a sympathetic response. Their baseball routine fares no better: Green explains the players’ confusing names instead of sustaining the misunderstanding. McGuillicutty finally gives up on the partnership, leaving Green to question even the angry parting line.

Highly quotable.

Actually, we've just exchanged equal amounts of money.

No, I'm a vaudevillian.

I auditioned for this job.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

The baseball routine reworks Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s on First?” by having Green explain the players’ names.

The rabbit hole continues

One more couldn’t hurt.
