Date Monologue

Alone in a movie theater, Kevin recounts an outing with Cynthia. He tries to impress her at the concession stand, but his attempt at wit lands badly. As the movie begins, embarrassment gives way to an extravagant fantasy of intimacy and devotion. By the end of his story, Cynthia has left town and he is still waiting for her, pleading with the empty seats before returning to his popcorn.
