The premise

Here’s the bit.

Jazz Club presenter Louis Balfour introduces trumpeter Jackson Jeffrey Jackson with solemn admiration. Jackson explains his approach to jazz in an increasingly tangled stream of musical terminology, then reveals that his trumpet technique depends on drawing air in. When he joins the backing band for a demonstration, the grand introduction gives way to an awkward physical performance.

Highly quotable.

Tune? This is jazz!

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

John Thomson based Louis Balfour's mannerisms partly on Roger Moore and broadcaster Bob Harris.
