The premise

Here’s the bit.

A young couple quietly visiting a grave notices another pair of mourners a few headstones away and quickly suspects they are being outdone. Soft sniffles become loud sobbing, gibberish wailing and running mascara, and before long both couples have changed into formal black, complete with a veiled hat. The tributes escalate just as fast: a single bloom becomes a heap of bouquets, a framed portrait and wreath, a towering obelisk unveiled from under a sheet, and finally a rendition of Amazing Grace that the first couple answers with a bugle and snare drum. Their noise draws a mourner from a real graveside service nearby, who walks over and asks them to stop, leaving the competitors sheepishly apologising while their rivals stand beneath a private rain cloud.

Notes from the archive.

The official Studio C upload ends with a short subscribe tag in which Jason Gray and Mallory Everton, still holding their bugle and snare drum, ask viewers to share times they were woefully one-upped.
