The premise

Here’s the bit.

Two customers heading to Boston stop at the Duane Reade inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and the clerk is appalled when one of them insists on buying the store's suspicious gallon of milk. His warning becomes a sprawling show-tune revue of the terminal: a possum couple reveals where the milk comes from, a soldier with an assault rifle watches over bum fights, a shampoo bottle sings from its locked cage, a menacing Greyhound driver introduces himself, a crowd of Timothée Chalamet lookalikes arrives, Mayor Eric Adams shows off a bus bound for Istanbul, and the dead bear cub that RFK Jr. left in Central Park tells its story before everyone boards for a disastrous ride through the Lincoln Tunnel.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

You're buying milk from the Duane Reade at Port Authority?

I think it's like orange juice with pulp, but it's milk with, like, pieces of organ.

Oh, they're still doing everything at Port Authority.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

The sixth of John Mulaney's New York Musical sketches on Saturday Night Live, after Diner Lobster, Bodega Bathroom, Airport Sushi, Souvenir Underwear and Subway Churro. Its numbers parody songs from The Lion King, Les Misérables, Hamilton and other musicals, with Andy Samberg rapping as the bear cub to the opening of Hamilton. It marked Pete Davidson's first SNL appearance in about a year, and Mulaney briefly broke character to hand him the milk by name.

The rabbit hole continues

One more couldn’t hurt.
