The premise

Here’s the bit.

Presented as a cheerful public service announcement about faith in democracy, the piece cuts between ordinary voters who each insist they are calm and hopeful about the coming presidential election. Their actions tell another story: one shops for emergency supplies, one stockpiles groceries, one slips away toward the Canadian border, and others fidget through sleepless worry at home.
