The premise

Here’s the bit.

In the style of a get-out-the-vote spot, neighbors, a doctor and patient, a florist and a cat owner each declare in a bright, certain voice that the Democrats will take back the House. The more they repeat it, the shakier their confidence gets: one mother snaps at her children to stay inside until the election, a florist swigs from a jug, and a son jokes about voting on the wrong day, which his mother cannot stand. The spot ends on a desperate plea to vote, backed by a closing card that reads like a request.
