Liza Minnelli Tries to Turn Off a Lamp
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Liza Minnelli and a friend are about to leave for the opening night of Cats, but first she insists on switching off a lamp. Every attempt becomes a performance, from high kicks and musical memories to a futile effort to unplug it while walking in place. Her seated companion keeps reminding her that they are running late. By the time she finally finds the switch, the lights have gone out on their theater plans, and the pair settle for dancing together.
