George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush Go Hunting
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Tramping through the fall woods with rifles, the elder George Bush talks his son into resting on a log after W. botches a shot at a deer. The father reminisces a little too fondly about the old hunting spot, then tries to have a serious man-to-man talk now that the polls suggest George W. is about to win the White House, explaining the honor, responsibility and fear that come with the office and the military he will command. His son keeps fidgeting with a pair of antlers, aiming his rifle at imaginary noises, waving away a near miss as a shot at a fly, and treating every solemn point as just 'cool'. When the deer finally reappears, the father suggests letting it go, but W. drops it with a gleeful one-liner and a pun about the buck stopping. Sent ahead to check on his kill, the son leaves his father alone with his rifle and a brief, guilty temptation that he talks himself out of before following along.
