The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Victor and Iris, colleagues from a department store's soft-toy section, are finally edging toward a first kiss when the doorbell rings. Arthur Name, a barely remembered acquaintance from the pub, lets himself in, swaps their mood music for a brass march and announces he has invited friends. The Equators follow, then a flamboyant widower and the man he picked up outside the cinema, who has brought a sick goat. As the guests grope Iris, raid the drinks and wreck the room, Victor finally orders everyone out, only to be shot by Brian, after which the whole crowd and a band of miners burst into a carol.

Highly quotable.
I'm Arthur. Arthur Name. Name by name but not by nature.
What's brown and sounds like a bell? Dung!
I don't much like the tone of your voice.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
The Visitors closes Series 1, Episode 9. It ends with the guests and a group of singing miners, credited on IMDb to the Fred Tomlinson Singers, launching into the carol "Ding Dong Merrily on High".
