The premise
Here’s the bit.
The latest instalment of an Australian family drama begins by recapping a mother’s improbable return. Back in the farmhouse, her claim to the property provokes an increasingly hostile dispute with the daughter who has kept it running. Demands for the accounts, florid insults and competing threats quickly overtake any sensible discussion of the inheritance. When a gun finally goes off, even the person who fired it is unsure how the scene is supposed to end.
