The premise
Here’s the bit.
The church elders of New Scunthorpe gather to discuss village business, but their attention shifts to unfamiliar pronunciations and an accidental laugh. Each attempt to condemn someone else exposes a fresh supposed sin, leaving almost everyone shunned. John tries to bring the discussion back to digging a well, only to discover that even an innocent expression can become another accusation.
