The premise

Here’s the bit.

Client #574 of the Lowered Expectations video dating service, Hank, sits on the red velvet loveseat in a cowboy hat, bolo tie and light-blue suit and introduces himself as a Texan from Waco. He promises that a girlfriend would get the same care he lavishes on his guns, then describes his idea of a romantic evening: a venison dinner followed by a night of target shooting at the municipal dump with his prized revolver. After admitting that he enjoys killing animals even more than he loves them, he invites interested women to set their sights on him, clutches his chest as if struck by a bullet and tips his hat before the service's jingle and Hank's number play over the closing sunset footage.

The funny people

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

And if you were my special gal, I'd treat you like I treat my gun collection.

I love all God's creatures, but I love killing them even more.

So if you're looking for a high-caliber man who won't misfire on you, aim and shoot in my direction.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Hank's ad was one of four Lowered Expectations client profiles in MADtv's fifth episode (November 11, 1995), alongside Louise (#342), Patty (#315) and Jeremy (#423).
