Mayflower Cruises
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Styled as a cheerful cruise-line commercial, the sketch invites devout Puritans to pack their Bibles and families and sail from Plymouth to the New World. As the upbeat narrator promises religious freedom and a fresh start, the pictures undercut every claim: passengers include people fleeing the law, the ship is cramped for two rough months at sea, and the voyage brings boredom, hunger, sickness and seasick passengers hanging over the rail. A beaming Puritan family waves goodbye under the closing slogan for a trip nobody would want to take twice.
