The premise
Here’s the bit.
Private Tommy Jones arrives eager to join the British army, but finding his own unit proves harder than expected. Canadian, Australian and South African soldiers send him onward through the trenches, each with a different accent or vocabulary. He finally reaches a British soldier and expects the confusion to end, only to discover that military slang can be just as baffling.
