Blonds of a Certain Age
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Harry Enfield's cynical shop owner has opened a new boutique named Blonds of a Certain Age, and when a well-off regular drops by he cheerfully tells her it exists to sell frilly, useless goods to rich women who simply cannot stop shopping. She coos over cushions he admits are a pointless size, then falls for a wall piece billed as a Banksy, which he concedes was probably knocked up by a stoner acquaintance. Undeterred, she agrees to the eye-watering price as an investment and pays with her husband's card.
The funny people
Meet the cast. 2
Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Basically all very well-off women who have everything they could possibly need or want but can't stop buying shit.
They really fill a non-existent gap in the market.
I mean, nobody really knows who Banksy is, do they?
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
This was one of several new shops the I Saw You Coming salesman opened in the second series, alongside Modern Wank and Le Grocer, after his series 1 Notting Hill antiques shop.

Why did you call it Blondes of a Certain Age?
- 00:23
Shopkeeper
Well, because my customers are blondes of a certain age. Basically all very well-off women who have everything they could possibly need or want but can't stop buying shit.
- 00:33
Customer
What do you recommend?
- 00:35
Shopkeeper
Well, pretty much all of this flowery shit. Here are some stupid cushions.
- 00:40
Customer
Oh, I like them.
- 00:42
Shopkeeper ?
Yeah. Too big to really go on a sofa, but too small to be an alternative to beanie bags on the floor.
- 00:48
Shopkeeper
They're a completely pointless size. They really fill a non-existent gap in the market. Then there are these funky wall statements.
- 00:56
Customer
Oh, my God, Banksy. I adore Banksy.
- 01:02
Shopkeeper
Yeah, I thought you probably would.
- 01:04
Customer
Did he actually do this?
- 01:07
Shopkeeper
Probably. I mean, nobody really knows who Banksy is, do they? So he probably is the dope head called Hugo who knocked these up for me.
- 01:18
Customer
I'll take Banksy.
- 01:19
Shopkeeper
It's £6,000.
- 01:21
