You're tuned to the good stuff
Dave Chappelle's Educated Guess Line
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
After complaining from the stage that a famous TV psychic is a fraud, Dave unveils his own call-in line in a mock late-night commercial. Draped in a head wrap and robe in front of a wall of tarot cards, he dazzles a white caller by deducing her love life from her boyfriends' races, guesses a Latino caller's name, truck and lack of insurance from his accent, and predicts that an inmate calling collect will be released and quickly locked up again. An announcer cheerfully admits he is no psychic at all, just someone who assumes stereotypes decide people's futures, before urging viewers to call at a per-minute rate.
The funny people
Meet the cast. 1
Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Dave Chappelle is not a psychic. He is merely a racist who believes that stereotypes dictate our futures.
Hold up, I'm seeing something.
You can't afford not to have your future read based on stereotypes.

The people who made it.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
Dave's opening jab targets Miss Cleo, the Jamaican-accented spokeswoman for the pay-per-minute Psychic Readers Network, whose TV commercials ran from 1997 to 2003. Despite the persona, Miss Cleo was played by Youree Harris, who was born in Los Angeles.
The rabbit hole continues
