The premise

Here’s the bit.

John receives a telegram during breakfast and reacts as though disaster has struck. His wife sends the children outside before revealing the cause: Billie Piper’s latest single has slipped out of the top twenty. She tries to reassure him with other avenues for the singer’s future, but each comparison sends him deeper into despair. In their old-fashioned home, contemporary pop careers receive the solemn treatment of a family tragedy.
