The premise

Here’s the bit.

When an autocorrect error turns Larry's name into Laura, clients start explaining his own job to him, and he returns to the office shaken by what he has seen. Framed with neon title cards in the style of Stranger Things, the sketch follows Larry and another male coworker as they react to everyday sexism and harassment as though they had stumbled into a hidden supernatural realm, while the women around them answer each revelation with weary, deadpan sarcasm. In the final scene one of those women vents about Larry's lack of empathy, only for two other coworkers to give her the same deadpan treatment about her own blind spots.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

It's pretty normal to have our jobs explained to us.

It's like there's a world for men, but then there's, like, this upside-down world for women.

I cannot believe that so many women are still using the hashtag MeToo.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

First broadcast on CBC on 1 October 2019 in the Season 4 episode "It's a Peachy Abomination"; IFC posted the sketch online in November 2019. Its red neon title cards ("Not So Strange Things", "Totally Normal Things", "Regular Things") parody the Stranger Things logo.

The rabbit hole continues

One more couldn’t hurt.
