The premise

Here’s the bit.

Summoned into his boss's office, a long-serving tea man learns that his employer runs the Secret Service and that every proper spy is unavailable, so he has been chosen to burn down the Kremlin. The chief's preparations fall apart one by one: a muddled out-of-date map, a parachute drop onto a hoped-for trampoline, a filing cabinet that yields a rabbit before the passport, and a forged identity of the wrong nationality. A brief unarmed-combat demonstration and a handful of useless gadgets complete the briefing before the reluctant agent is sent off with his paraffin.

Highly quotable.

I want you to set fire to the Kremlin.

Unless you know one nearer.

Here's a pen for writing under curry. And here's a plate of curry for you to write under.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Series 2, Episode 5 survives complete apart from its end credits; the kinescope was recovered in 2003. One Media iP's YouTube release presents this sketch in a compilation labelled Episode 1, which is not the original broadcast order.

The rabbit hole continues

One more couldn’t hurt.
