The premise

Here’s the bit.

After Sir Cecil is found dead at his country manor, his son Reginald and daughter Gwendolyn insist it was suicide, but their elderly relative Miss Marble, a celebrated amateur sleuth, refuses to stop snooping. A blundering Inspector Smendrick arrives with ever more improbable autopsy findings, the rambling butler Carruthers mangles the introductions, and the household starts dropping dead as the will is read aloud. Miss Marble plays dead to expose the killer, but a closer look at the will reveals who really stands to inherit.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

I hardly think "out to lunch" constitutes a suicide note.

Busybody, you say? My body hasn’t been busy in over 40 years.

I’ve killed four people to get that money.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Titled “Miss Marble Screams Bloody Murder” on screen (the official YouTube clip calls it “Can We Identity the Murderer?”), this spoof of Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple mysteries comes from the episode’s salute to movie detectives, with guests Anthony Newley as Reginald and Dick Martin as the butler. The official clip labels it season 7, episode 13, but TheTVDB and IMDb list this episode as season 7, episode 14 (December 22, 1973), whose numbering the catalog follows.
