As the Stomach Turns
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
In this early installment of the show's soap-opera spoof, Marian and her friend Laura return from a funeral and rate it like a party, while Marian turns down further invitations because she is booked for several funerals a day. Her unmarried daughter drops by long enough to hand over a baby, and Laura laments being alone until a widower passing through town turns out to be a mortician. Laura claims him for marriage on the spot, and a highly accomplished new arrival named Julia announces she is integrating Canoga Falls, prompting Marian's well-meaning but condescending welcome. When the mortician strains himself lifting Julia's suitcase and collapses, the episode closes on a handsome stranger and the announcer's string of melodramatic cliffhanger questions.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Yesterday, the eulogy fell flat, the food was bad, and there was no place to dance.
Well, if there's one thing we need in Canoga Falls, it's another mortician.
Oh, just think, the first all-widow integrated bowling team in America.
