Quotes

I am calling China. I am calling Afghanistan. I am running up a $50,000 phone bill.
Mama, you never told me Daddy died in the bathroom.
You know what he always called Ellen? His apple dumpling. You know what he called me? His prune tart.

Synopsis

Back from church, the Family can't stop praising Reverend Plum's message about loving your neighbor and forgiving your enemies. The glow fades quickly: Ed is sore about missing his waffle breakfast, and Eunice phones her estranged sister Ellen to grant her a grand pardon that collapses into another feud. At the table, Mama confesses she never forgave her late husband for their final fight and insists on going to the cemetery to make peace, which sets off Eunice's own bitter childhood grievances about Daddy's favoritism. In the end all three set off for the cemetery together, congratulating themselves on how close church has brought them.
