Rookie Cop

At a gory alley crime scene, a rookie cop (Jay Mohr) is overwhelmed by the sight of a shotgun murder victim and vomits. His partner Jerome (Tim Meadows) explains that seeing someone vomit makes him vomit too, and soon two more cops (Adam Sandler and David Spade), the coroner (Michael McKean), a pregnant cop (Janeane Garofalo), and the police commissioner (Mike Myers) all catch the chain reaction after viewing the body. Even the voice on the police chief's (Alec Baldwin) walkie-talkie vomits after hearing the details. A TV reporter (Ellen Cleghorne) covering the story on the news vomits on air, causing a husband and wife watching at home, and even their stuffed pet dog, to vomit as well. The outbreak spreads across the whole city. Corrupt fixer Red Skeffington (Chris Elliott) meets with Mayor Rudolph Giuliani (Kevin Nealon) to negotiate a $10 million cleanup deal, but chokes to death on his own vomit after eating spoiled deviled eggs, causing the Mayor to vomit on him in turn. A newspaper boy (Chris Farley) spinning a novelty newspaper display vomits from the disorienting motion. Back at the original crime scene, the rookie admits he also wet his pants, prompting the police chief to vomit on him as the sketch ends.

Aired during the December 10, 1994 episode of SNL Season 20, hosted by Alec Baldwin (his 5th time hosting) with musical guests the Beastie Boys. The sketch is famous for its visibly imperfect practical effects: the vomit-dispensing hoses running up the actors' sleeves and pant legs are clearly visible throughout, and the timing of the vomit gags is frequently off, with vomit spilling before or after the actor raises their hands to their face. Chris Elliott's ad-libbed 'dry heaves' line when his vomit rig failed to fire on cue is a fan-favorite moment.
